Dirt Days 2011: June 8-12, Lyburn
Enjoy the world-famous Hatfield McCoy Trails by day, then have some high-octane fun in the evening! All packages include a continental breakfast on Friday and Saturday, drag racing (non-competitive), Dirt Days T-shirt and decal, mud pit obstacle course, bonfire, scavenger hunt, cash or $400 warn winch, Texas Hold’em Poker, Hatfield-McCoy Koozie, Hatfield-McCoy key chain, wheelie contest (prize), $1,000 worth of door prizes, two poker runs and much more. Youths age 18 and under may participate in a fishing tournament. Other activities include: miniature golf, Jumping Jamboree, playground, horseshoes, ping pong, pool table, soft toss, volleyball and more. Hatfield-McCoy Festival and Marathon: June 10-12, Downtown Williamson and Matewan
The Hatfields and McCoys are back at it again but this time they're having fun instead of feuding! Run in the marathon or half-marathon and discover our infamous past with the Hatfields and the McCoys. The race begins at 7 a.m. Activities include free concerts, food, Appalachian craft vendors, an antique gun show, kids’ games, Zumba performance, karaoke, Civil War re-enactment, Poker Run, ATV parade, kids’ run, Hillbilly Wedding, canoe and kayak boat show, storytelling and much more. Musical entertainment in Williamson will last until 9 p.m. Hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Matewan Massacre Re-Enactment will take place in downtown Matewan in front of the UMWA Hall on Saturday.
